The faculty at Hunter College High School is divided into a number of major departments. The departments have chairpersons who help coordinate the actions of their department and the various people who are part of it.

Most departments are organized according to what subject the faculty members teach, though Hunter has some non-academic departments as well. These departments serve other vital functions in the Hunter community. All departments are separate from the Administration, which is not a department.
