Today in homeroom, students received their ID Cards, school pictures (if they had not been picked up already) and a form called STUDENT AUDIO/VISUAL CONSENT AND RELEASE FORM.
This form (attached here in pdf format in case you need another copy) requires both your signature and that of your child.
Please return it to the HS Main Office by next Friday, October 3rd.
There are several projects this year that require this release form. Any questions may be addressed to Lindy Uehling, Director of Admissions.

If you are an 8th or 9th grade student and you want to take the Specialized High School Admissions Test, stop by Mr. Natelli’s office (Room 436) by October 6th and sign up. There will be no way to sit for the test if you are not signed up by October 6th. The test will be given at Stuyvesant High School on October 25th, 26th or November 8th depending on your grade. In addition, a high school application will have to be filled out and they will be available after October 10th. If you have any questions you can contact Mr. Natelli at 212-860-1452.

The sixth International Linguistics Olympiad ended today in Slanchev Bryag, Bulgaria, and U.S. high school students captured 11 out of 33 awards, including gold medals in individual and team events. This was only the second time the U.S. has ever competed in the event. Their achievement brings a new focus on computational linguistics

We are looking forward to seeing you soon! You should have received the summer mailing by now, but below is the information about Orientation and the first day of classes once again. Classes begin for all students on Thursday, September 4, 2008.
Please note, students must submit the signed Emergency Card to receive a class schedule. For returning students, please also note that individual programs will not be distributed unless all of the following items are returned:
• Signed emergency cards
• Overdue Textbooks & Hunter library books/fees for lost books
• Senior Dues (for seniors only)
GRADE 7:
Parents are invited to accompany 7th grade students to school on Wednesday, September 3rd at 8:30 am. There will be an orientation session for parents and students together, then separate meetings for students and for parents. Sessions will end at approximately 10:30 am.

PROGRAM CHANGES for 11th and 12th grade students will be possible both before school and during the first two weeks of the semester, but only
with the approval of the appropriate department chairs. Please note that many classes have already filled up, so change requests are subject
to course availability and the final approval of the Administration. Priority will be given to students who do not yet have a full schedule.
The available times for students in grades 11 and 12 who need to adjust their schedules are as follows (Please come to Room 242):
Seniors: August 26th through 29th 10AM -3PM
Juniors: August 28th & 29th from 10AM -3PM
For those of you who are unavailable during those times, there will also be time set aside during the days after Labor Day.
LAST DAY FOR PROGRAM CHANGES is Thursday, September 18th.
