       <p>On Wednesday, February 8th during activities period, Hunter’s newly chartered chapter of NAHS (National Art Honor Society) will be facilitating an information sharing session about summer programs in visual arts, music and theater. The activity will be in the auditorium and will quickly break into smaller discipline-specific groups within the space. </p>

<p>We welcome all students who have participated in a class, camp, program or internship, either in the city or residential, to come and share their experiences.        <p>On Saturday, February 4th at 12 pm and Sunday, February 5 at 11am, HCHS will hold its 1st Annual Blair Anthony Dorner JV Basketball Tournament.&nbsp; This basketball tournament will serve as a way to commemorate Blair, who died tragically in a swimming accident in July 2011.&nbsp; All money raised from these efforts will go to Blair&#8217;s family.&nbsp; <a href="/images/uploads/DornerTournament.pdf" target="_blank">For full details regarding this Basketball tournament, please click on this link. </a>

       <p>Congratulations to HCHS &amp; HCES students for their performance at the 2012 Manhattan Borough Spelling Bee.&nbsp; Three students will be moving on to the citywide championship held in March at HCCS.&nbsp; Congratulations to Matthew Zucker (7th grade) who finished in 2nd place, Adam Bumas (8th grade) who finished in 3rd place, and Sam Brochin (6th grade) who finished in 7th place.

The blog has helpful links such as the fundraiser calendar, club charter forms, and the entire club list, just to name a few.        <p>Gabriel Vidal (Class of 2016) is our 2012 National Geographic Society Geography Bee champion. Gabriel triumphed on January 10th in our Finalist/Championship Round competitions. Gabriel sat last week for a 70 question Qualifying Examination that has been sent to the National Geographic Society in Washington to determine if he qualifies for the New York State Geography Bee held in Albany in March.

       <p>The Arts Department would like to congratulate the following HCHS chamber music students who through a vigorous audition process have been selected by “The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center” to perform at Lincoln Center.&nbsp; The competitions were open to Jr. and Sr. High Schools throughout the tri state area.&nbsp; The three winning ensembles were coached by HCHS music teacher Michael Stratechuk and will each receive two additional coaching sessions from Chamber Music Society artists prior to their performances at Lincoln Center. <a href="/images/uploads/2012_winners_announcement.pdf" target="_blank">To see a full list of award winners, click on this link. </a>

       <p>Congratulations to Meena Boppana (Lattice Variant of the Sensitivity Conjecture) and Eric Mannes (Bounds on Monotone Switching Networks for the Matching Problem), two of 300 Intel Science Talent Search (Intel STS) 2012 Semifinalists from across the country!</p>

<p>From the semifinalists, 40 finalists will be chosen to attend the Intel Science Talent Institute in Washington, DC from March 8–13, 2012. The finalists will be announced January 25, 2012 and published in Science News.&nbsp; Good luck, Meena and Eric!</p>

The collection of books will run through Friday, December 23rd.
