       <p>The Social Studies Department congratulates members of the <b>Euro Challenge team</b> and their advisor Angela Sheldon on winning 2nd place in the Euro Challenge competition.&nbsp; The following members will share a $5,000.00 cash prize and a trip to Washington DC where they will meet with the IMF and the European Union Delegation to the United States: Leo Elliot, Lucas Deysine, Tian Weinberg, Alex Geisler, Duncan Kimmel, Fandi Tang, Yoni Nachmany, Eric Blohm.</p>

<p>The Social Studies Department congratulates members of the <b>History Bowl Team</b> on winning the National History Bowl Championship in Washington DC in competition with 140 high school teams.&nbsp; Congratulations to Richard Yu who took second place in the individual History Bee. Team members: Richard Yu, York Chen, Paul Maschetti, and Zihan Zheng.&nbsp; David Xu was there to support the team and he served as a reader during the competition.</p>

       <p>Three Hunter College High School teams of tenth graders competed at the New York Section of Chemagination at St. John’s University on Saturday, March 31. Analise Rhode, Isabel Udo, and Miru Osuga won first place in the Alternative Energy category with an article about how anaerobic digestion could be used as an alternative energy source. Mira Nagarajan and Fandi Tang won first place in the New Material category with an article about how Polyisoprene potential for use in contraception. Sophia Siu, Purva Vaidya, and Stephen Leong competed in the Health/Medicine category with an article about the use of shuttle molecules in breaching the blood-brain barrier.        <p>Congratulations to Lily Chen and Willie Chen on earning qualifying scores on the Regional Chemistry Olympiad. Their scores qualified them to take the National Chemistry Olympiad on April 22nd where they will be competing to earn one of the 20 spots in training camp for the National Team to represent America at the International Chemistry Olympiad. </p>

<p>Congratulations to Chen Wei and Lily Chen, who have reached the semifinals in the Biology Olympiad for 2012. If they are successful in the next round of testing, they will move into national competition. The Biology Olympiad competition is offered each year for aspiring Biology Students. </p>

<p>Congratulations to Aaron Landesman, Andre Arslan, Lily Chen, and Jenny Nitishinskaya, who are semifinalists in the United States Physics Olympiad competition. They have taken the test to qualify for the United States national team.

       <p>Under the mentorship of AllianceBernstein and with the generous sponsorship of the HCHS Alumni Association and the HCHS PTA, students designed and built a robot that shoots basketballs autonomously and can be driven remotely. The RoHawk drive team entered the quarterfinals ranked 14 of 62.&nbsp; With the tournament’s highest category total in “Bridge Points” (110), we went into the Alliance Selection Process in the first alternate position.&nbsp; The HCHS Team 3419 won a berth to the National Competition in St. Louis, MO in late April.&nbsp; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hl6Dwx9pYWw </p>

       <p>With the help of a generous grant from the PTA, Hunter Quiz Bowl was able to attend the Texas Invitational in Houston, TX during Presidents Week break. With 6 of the top 10 teams in the nation competing, Hunter won the first event after beating Bellarmine Prep in two consecutive matches. Bellarmine won the second event of the weekend, and with it the top ranking. Hunter is ranked second in the nation, and will travel to St Louis to compete in the national championship in June.</p>

<p>Hunter Quiz Bowl meets during Wednesday activities and also on Tuesday,Thursday, and Friday from 3:30 - 5pm in room 416. Our house-written tournament, Prison Bowl, has once again received Platinum Certification by the Partnership for Academic Competition Excellence.

       <p>On Wednesday, February 8th during activities period, Hunter’s newly chartered chapter of NAHS (National Art Honor Society) will be facilitating an information sharing session about summer programs in visual arts, music and theater. The activity will be in the auditorium and will quickly break into smaller discipline-specific groups within the space. </p>

<p>We welcome all students who have participated in a class, camp, program or internship, either in the city or residential, to come and share their experiences.
