[edit] About

The tech team is a club of students who are trained to fix common technical problems at Hunter College Campus Schools. The tech team consists of students who have pretty high technical aptitude. We don't spend a bunch of time training students in basic computer skills.

Students in this club come from the Elementary School and the High School, making it a unique club/organization in the Campus Schools (The only club that has members in both schools - I think).

Tech team members:

  • Learn and use effective communications techniques
  • Help teachers fix their printers
  • Connect LCD projectors
  • Use USB disks
  • Setup and use smartboards
  • Use simple trouble-shooting techniques
  • Use an online trouble-ticket system to escalate an issue

You might also:

  • do wiki stuff
  • setup computers
  • string cables
  • complain about how slow our network is
  • wheel carts around
  • tell Mr. MacKenty about cool new stuff

Tech team members must attend training, and upon completion of their training, they get a shiny ID card, which can be used to stun your enemies and impress those in positions of power.

[edit] The Agreement

In order to be a member of the tech team, you need to grok and agree to this.

  • As a member of the tech team, you will never touch a teachers computer without clear permission from the teacher - every time you work with a computer.
  • If you see anything which looks confidential (anyone's name, or information about another student), you will keep it confidential.
  • If you don't know how to fix the problem, you won't try.
  • Tell us what you did.
  • With great power, comes great responsibility.

[edit] Contact

All questions, comments, and ideas should be sent to Mr. MacKenty, who is easily distracted when talking about video games and Linux. He can be reached at 646-963-6339.
